How To Create Geo-Segmented Email Campaigns with CloudEngage and MailChimp

Last week we created a targeted popup modal with a live CloudEngage form to grab your visitors attention at the right place and time. This helps you to increase the success of growing your newsletter signups. Since the visitor’s city, state, and country are recorded upon form submission, we are able to geo-segment your MailChimp email campaign automagically.

• With geo-segmentation, you can “stagger your emails to send out at optimum times for customers in different time zones.” – KissMetrics

Ingredients:

• Your organization’s website.
• CloudEngage popup modal with an active form.

• An email account. (Last week’s blog tells you how to create a Gmail subject filter.)
• A MailChimp subscription (any tier).
• A contact list, in comma separated format:
  • “bs@bollogna.com”,”Steve”,”Bollogna”,” Food & Beverages”,”2017-10-06T18:13:12+00:00″,”Portland, Oregon. United States”
• If you have multiple contacts to import you can import CSV or TXT files.
  • • You can use https://www.editpad.org/ to create simple TXT files. Example:

  • Make sure there is just one contact per line and then save and import the TXT file into a MailChimp list.
  • This step is not necessary if you are just adding a few contacts at a time.
